Question: How long will my spray tan last?

There are a number of factors that affect how long a tan will last. Preparation & aftercare is very important if you want to extend the life of your tan. This means exfoliating beforehand and moisturizing afterwards. Depending on your skin type and how each solution reacts with your skin your tan can last anywhere from 5-10 days on average. For tips on preparation, aftercare & exfoliating check out the information page or contact Lauren.

Question: Should I shave or wax before or after I get my spray tan?

Whether you shave or wax is completely up to you, both should be done before the application of the tan. Ideally shaving should be done at least 8 hours before & waxing at least 1 day before. When waxing, be sure that all the wax is removed otherwise the tan will stick to the wax & will appear very dark where the wax has not been removed. Shaving after the application will take off some of your tan, so shave only when you really need to & ensure that your blade is sharp.

Question: How long should I wait after a tanning session before showering?

To give your spray tan enough time to fully develop, it is recommended waiting a minimum of 8 hours after tanning (unless otherwise instructed). Showering sooner may diminish the intensity of the tan. Ideally DHA needs 12 hours for the skin to develop its full tanned color. If you notice that you are pretty dark & would not like to be any darker feel free to shower. Remember as soon as water hits your skin & the tanner it deactivates it. Don't be scared if you notice the water turning a brownish color that is normal.

Question: What should I wear?

You may wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Whether you wear nothing, underwear or your swim suit is completely up to you. If you do wear underwear, bra, swim suit or any type of clothing try to make it on the darker side so it does not stain. After your spray tan, loose, dark clothing is preferable while the tan continues to dry.

Question: My skin never tans! Will a spray tan work on my skin?

Yes it will definitely work on your skin! Having Lauren do your spray tan professionally will help increase your results rather than a machine at a tanning salon that just goes up & down. With the South Seas tanning solution you will even notice your tan immediately! Being able to see your tan immediately helps Lauren apply it & make sure she has every part of you not only tanned but evenly as well.

Question: Will swimming affect my spray tan?

Swimming in chlorinated water or salt water will fade your tan & cause possible streaking. When swimming try to only go for short dips & rinse off in fresh water afterwards.

Question: What is a spray tanning session like?

During your session, Lauren professionally applies a tanning solution with state of the art equipment in a pop up tent. You will receive an immediate tan due to the instant bronzer, and your tan will continue to develop and become darker during the 6-12 hours following your tanning session. Please be advised that some skin types do not react favorably to Spray Tanning. For this reason, we do not advise being sprayed for the first time when your appearance is critical (weddings, special occasions, photography sessions, modeling assignments, etc.)

Question: Is it safe to get a spray tan while I am pregnant?

Please consult with your doctor before getting a spray tan done by Lauren. Most doctors advise you to wait till after your first trimester. Click the link for a list of ingredients to provide your doctor with to make sure it is safe for you. There is also open ventilation it is not in a booth. Lauren will provide you with nose plugs so you do not inhale any overspray that there may be. Spray tanning always lies on the outermost layer of the skin. It will never absorb into the skin or the bloodstream. DHA is sugar and mineral based. Please always take pre cautionary measures when getting a spray tan. Please be advised that your skin may become sensitive now that you are pregnant. Lauren advises that you do a patch test before your appointment to make sure your skin will not be irritated. If you have any other questions or concerns please contact Lauren.
