After Care

- Do not swim, bathe, sweat, or exercise for a minimum of 8 hours unless told otherwise. 12-16 hours is recommended. Doing any of these before the 8 hours of development may cause your tan to streak, not develop fully and fade more easily.

- There is a bronzer in the solution, which means that you will have some color immediately after you are sprayed. When showering, do not be alarmed if you see some of the color wash off; this is excess solution from the instant bronzer, and is completely normal. The color will continue to darken as the solution develops.

- If you are waiting until the next day to shower and you wake up to dark please contact Lauren for tips if not already advised what to do.

- If you are waiting until the next day to shower and you would like to work out, shower before you work out and then shower again. You cannot wash your face before you go to bed. This also goes for not washing any makeup off your face before you go to bed is sprayed with makeup on.

- When showering, DO NOT use exfoliants, body scrubs, body washes or soaps with exfoliating beads, wash clothes, or loofahs. Instead, use a mild shower gel that contains moisturizers or a non-scented soap. DO NOT use dove soap or products it will strip your tan right off. You may use any of the above when the tan is fading and you are preparing for your next tanning session.

- After showering, pat your skin with a towel; do not rub your skin to dry.

- If you are going to shave while still trying to maintain your tan use a light tough with a sharp razor. Limit the shaving of your legs, as this is also a form of exfoliating. It is recommended to use South Seas Body wash while shaving and washing up

- Continue to wear dark, loose-fitting clothing and flip flops or no footwear for 6-8 hours after your session.

- Avoid excessive touching or rubbing of any tanned areas. Doing so may cause your palms to get discolored or interfere with the development of the solution. If you do accidentally touch an area that seemed sticky or you notice your palms to start to discolor just wash the insides of your hands as directed by Lauren.

- Be cautious around water the day you get sprayed. This includes everything from doing dishes to brushing your teeth. While you can still do these things, it is recommended that you are careful so you do not mess up your spray tan.

- In order to maintain your tan, apply regular lotion (twice a day) or South Seas moisturizer. Only use a tan extender by South Seas. If you use another products tan extender it may strip it off and do the opposite of extend your tan. Moisturizing helps extend the life of your tan and it helps your tan to fade more evenly. We do not recommend using a lotion that is mainly a fragrance, like Bath and Body Works or Victoria’s Secret. You can start to moisturize after your first shower.

- Face washes containing salicylic acid and/or benzoyl peroxide are not recommended because they can eat away at your spray tan. Acne spot treatments are also not recommended during the week your spray tan is on.

- Any minor bronzer rub-off will easily wash out of most fabrics. The bronzer may get on the inside of your clothes or on your sheets. It should not stain, however we cannot guarantee this 100%.

- You are allowed to go in the sun after your spray tan; however it is recommended that you wait at least one day before doing so. Wearing SPF while out in the sun is always highly recommended. The only SPF Lauren Recommends is the South Seas SPF 15 because it is guaranteed to not strip the tan! Chlorine may make your tan fade faster, however it is not going to remove the tan immediately.

- Eventually, usually a few days after the tanning session, the color will begin to fade, sometimes creating a blotchy or scaly “lizard skin” appearance. The best way to counteract this is daily rehydration using a moisturizer starting the day after your session. If you moisturize and take care of your tan it should fade away evenly.
